THEORY OF DOUGH
WHO THEY ARE
A local bakery sells on appetite and trust. Most of its custom is repeat and word-of-mouth within a town, and its highest-value orders — birthdays, weddings, celebrations — are decided days in advance by someone browsing for something that looks right.
That makes the website do a specific job: not transact, but reassure. It has to make the product look worth ordering and make the bakery easy to reach.
THE BRIEF
Give a Palakkad bakery a web presence that does what its counter display does — make the product look good enough to order, and make ordering easy.
WHAT I DID
Designed and built the website for the bakery, structured around the product ranges — cakes, cupcakes, muffins — because that is how customers arrive at a bakery: knowing the occasion, choosing the form.
Kept the product imagery central. In celebration baking the buying decision is visual, and copy cannot substitute for a cake that looks right.
THE THINKING
Let the product do the selling
Bakery buying is appetite-led. The design gets out of the way of the photography.
Organise by occasion
Customers arrive knowing the event, not the SKU. Ranges beat catalogues.
Make contact trivial
A local bakery order is a conversation. The site’s job ends at getting someone to start it.
